Autophobia (or Monophobia) is the phobia of being alone. The word is derived from the Greek words autos ("self") and phobos ("fear"). A secondary meaning of the term is for the much rarer condition of true autophobia, that is, fear or mistrust of oneself.[citation needed][dubious ]
